LYNN GOSDEN
Lynn finally got permission from daughter Laura to join CATS to perform in "Bad Hair Day". An instant success, Lynn decided to join the society properly, and has performed in numerous plays since then; from pantomimes "Cinderellium," "Dick Whittington" and "Dracula" to the Victorian Melodrama "Down with Demon Drink," the summer money spinner "Out of Focus" and many others besides. Her favourite role was that of Miss Gulch / The Wicked Witch of the West, in "The Wizard of Oz" mainly because she go to be the baddie! Her singing is another thing which has kept her in the cast list as she sang in both "Down with Demon Drink" and "A Chorus of Disapproval," where Lynn played a housewife, married to a Welsh director, who has an affair with the leading actor in the play "The Beggar's Opera." This was another show where mother, son and daughter all performed together. In "Out of Focus", Lynn played Evonne Duckworth, the Vicar's wife, who is desperately trying to put on a pantomime with all sorts of strange and irrtating characters. Her catchphrase was 'super'! Apparently the best bit was when she got to dunk Angie Chitty in a bowl full of water! Not just satisfied with the acting role, Lynn does a great deal of writing, although we have yet to convince her to write a play for us. She has written sketches for the Talent Nights and has also written a CATS anthem! her sketch, 'has the bus come yet' is still remembered! Lynn also gets involved behind the scenes, and has been costume designer for many plays. Lynn's worst moment on stage came during one of the pantomime's "Dick Whittington" where she had to be dragged on stage in 'The Saucy Sal', a rather rickety boat on wheels! As Captain Cod, she could only complain at her sidekick Mr Chips, as he was the one who built it! |
